Plot
Analysis
Director Ramesh Varma begins the story of "Khiladi" with an interesting setup - the hero is accused of killing his wife and stealing money. Now, since we have seen hundreds of movies with dual shades with the hero's back story, we can easily guess that he didn't really kill his wife. But as the writers and directors begin the story, the initial set-up adds interest.
Ramesh Varma fills the first half with the usual template - an interesting set-up, a long romantic theme about hero and heroine (Ravi Teja and Dimple Hayathi) and a pre-interval twist. There is a familiarity, but still, the proceedings are quite engaging thanks to some colorfully drawn foot-tapping numbers. The twist is also neat. In fact, the pre-interval sequences are quite interestingly narrated.
If Ramesh Varma and his writers had acted in the same way, the result would not have looked so bad. But for some strange reason, the team relied more on turns. The twists are easily predictable and they keep coming throughout the second half, even at the climax where we see two or three twists. This is not enough; there is a sign of a sequel. Shabbos!
In this battle, the film went completely downhill and ended up trying to create a scam story with no direction.
As always, logic fails.
Ravi Teja
A hero with dual shades is a common feature, but here we see many other characters in the same way. None of these characters make us root for them. The hero also has no goal.
Ravi Teja played the role with ease, he gives energy to the bland role. Arjun takes on the role of a formal cop. Both Dimple and Meenakshi don't shy away from flaunting their skin freely. In particular, Dimple took the opportunity to expose her skin to the maximum. Anasuya also surprises us with her charming act. Vennela Kishore and Murali Sharma have done their roles well.
Devi Sri Prasad came up with foot tapping numbers. Three songs worked on the screens. The rich frames and luxurious production values are worth mentioning.
'Khiladi' is a plot drama that tries to build on the twists and turns and glamor of the heroes, but the flat story and aimless heroism made it a boring watch.
